HO Weymouth Bit W. Port, 12mm 7cm Cheeks, Sensogan Metall 105 mm

This HO Weymouth bit enables particularly sensitive and precise aids, meeting the highest standards. It is especially recommended for gently and safely introducing your horse to the Weymouth, making it an excellent choice for riders new to double bridles as well as for sensitive horses.

The construction of the mouthpiece creates ideal conditions to promote harmony between the rider’s hand and the horse’s mouth, encouraging a relaxed acceptance of the Weymouth. The port is slightly curved and angled forward, with beveled transitions to the side pieces. The centre of the tongue is slightly relieved, while pressure on the tongue edges remains low. When the reins are taken up, pressure is evenly distributed across the entire tongue. Due to the longer shanks, the effect sets in slightly later compared to shorter shanks. At the same time, more pressure can be applied to the poll when needed.

The horse’s mouth is generally slightly narrower where the Weymouth sits. It is therefore recommended to choose the Weymouth 0.5 to 1 cm smaller than the bradoon. It is important that the side pieces sit close to the corners of the mouth. If there is too much space between the mouth corner and the side piece, the Weymouth may become unstable or tilt.

The curb chain should be adjusted so that an angle of approximately 30 to 45 degrees is formed between the horse’s mouth opening and the lower shank.
